I also set the Colour Balance drop down to 'Neutral' and Negative Vendor drop down to 'Generic'. Preview again to get all the frames on the screen to set up the batch processing. I sample a section of just the orange base in the preview phase and lock the exposure - just tick the box like you say - and I then tick the 'Lock image colour' box too. >Do I need to do the whole thing with scanning the orange base The last link describes generating RAW scans for post processing in ColorPerfect, but I can't get my head around the ColorPerfect UI, so have been using the negfix8 scripts instead. I then give the jpeg a final colour balance tweak via Aperture using it's auto colour balance feature which 95% of the time gets it spot on for my tastes. But boosting exposure is easier than correcting colour I find it comes out with a accurate looking colour balance, if a little underexposed. I then use the negfix8 script to generate a large jpeg. I basically scan (batch scan, oh yeah!) as 'raw' files, having locked in the exposure & colour for that particular roll. Easy enough to use at the default settings after that. Well, installing negfix8 is the hard part. I've always got weird colour casts with my C41 scanning, but have recently been trying a more elaborate technique that's not for the faint hearted if you don't have technical background. The best program is the one you are used to. My Vuescan (old version) makes slightly pale colors, enhanced saturation in postprocessing is sometimes necessary. Disable sharpening (crappy)! Sharpen in post. Sometimes useful, sometimes not :-D Works only with exactly the one and only film you are scanning right now.Įnable IR-dust-removal, works great. All scans will be done with the same settings. New preview: fix film base and color balance. * Wasn't there an option to scan the orange base and tell Vuescan to use that particular base color instead of a default? Is that even useful?įix exposure in the "source" tab after preview. I never managed to get the batch scan work * Is it possible to scan multiple shots at once or do I need to scan each frame alone and adjust stuff in "color"? Right click in a white or neutral grey area sets the color balance often fine. * What "color balance" setting to you use?įor the color balance I mostly use manual or "extremwerte automatisch". Don't use any profiles at all, use generic. * Do you pick the correct film vendor and film stock?įirst and most important: activate advanced options.
